This video tutorial shows the step by step process of creating your own homemade Ultron mask/helmet from simple cardboard. Other materials needed include pencil, scissors, hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, masking tape, small metal clips, glue, paintbrush, bits of scrap paper, two halves of plastic makeup compact, ruler, and two bottle caps from soda bottles.
This first video will take you through the entire construction process of the Ultron helmet and also features a link to the crafter’s blog where you can find a template for the pattern. See below for part two on how finish up your do it yourself Ultron helmet.
This video tutorial takes you through the completion process of the Ultron mask made from cardboard. It shows the painting process step by step and how to make the red glowing eyes of Ultron. You will need white spray paint, black gloss spray paint, and chrome/silver colored spray paint. If making this helmet for a child, it might be wise to use non-toxic water based craft paints in the same colors instead of spray paints. When finished with the layers of painting, this helmet will look metallic, as if it were really made from metal.
To make the eyes, the designer spray painted a white LED light because he could not find a red one. He also used a clear plastic film painted red to make the lenses for the eyes. You will also need wrinkled aluminum foil and rubber cement to complete this craft project. Makes a great looking helmet for Halloween or Cosplay fun.
Ultron is not an easy costume to put together yourself, but with the homemade mask mentioned above and a couple of key pieces, you can put together a decent costume for Halloween. The muscle shirt by Fun World Costumes could be painted a silvery gray color, with the red details painted on with fabric paint. Refer to photos of the Ultron character on Google images for inspiration and guidance when painting.
Muscle Chest Shirt
Combine the muscle shirt with gray compression pants that are form fitting and will enhance your own muscles to help you look the part of this robotic Avengers foe.
Compression Pants – Men’s Gray
Add some gray shooter’s gloves with detail in the fabric to make your look more authentic, such as this pair from VooDoo Tactical.
These cool shin guards could also be worn with some silver duct tape placed over the black areas to make your costume look more ” robot like”.
