How To Draw A Monster Halloween Mask Idea

[phpzon keywords=”monster halloween masks” num=”2″ country=”US” searchindex=”Apparel” trackingid=”halloweenshopping-20″ sort=”none” templatename=”default” paging=”true”]To draw a Monster Halloween mask you will need:

  • A pencil Preferably a HB or even a 2B)
  • An ink pen (Berol fine liner or cheap gel ink pen
  • Colored pencils (Prismacolor Premier pencils are great!)
  • A decent piece of sketching paper

Start Sketching – I usually try and sketch the main face shape first which is often a rough oval and it’s this basic shape you can build upon with extra details and the main monster features. Drawing the eyes at different levels helps to create a not so seriously evil design, but more of a cartoonish monster mask drawing for young kids.

Inking the Monster – Using an ink pen you would ink the pencil lines and always improve upon the pencil art and create more of a sense of depth. Although on the coloring stage that will be the best thing to bring your drawing to life as it adds a 3D element to it. A fine line ink pen such as a gel ink pen or a Berol fine line handwriting pen ( Yeah I never use them for writing!) are your best bets for inking on the cheap, however there are top brand ink pens and markers out there that are more expensive which you can find here – Pitt Ink Pens

Coloring your Monster design – I use Prismacolor color pencils because they are smooth for shading and blending and the best thing is that you can over lay new shades of previously layered in color to creat more depth of tone with your drawings. In essence they react sort of like chalky pastels that can be applied one on top of the other. The White color also is a brilliant blending tool for all colors.
