Tom Wood may seem like an ordinary guy who lives with his wife and child and owns and operates a cattle ranch in Arkansas’ Ozark Mountain region. All of that sounds quite normal. There is also another detail about Tom Wood’s life that is far beyond ordinary. He happens to be a best selling artist who creates fantasy posters and images that could make even the most die hard horror fan cringe. He is well known for his drawings of dragons and his images created for the band Insane Clown Posse. Tom Wood operates Meridian Design Works and also Tom Wood Fantasy Art from his ranch. Some of his work is so creepy that not only could it be used as a poster, but also as a Halloween decoration.
Keep Smiling
One of the Tom Wood fantasy art prints that incorporates both fantasy and horror is called Keep Smiling. Although that title may sound cheerful, the poster is anything but! It features a demonic looking clown with glowing red eyes, snarling yellowish teeth, a sneering grin, white and pink face paint, and crazy purple hair. This clown is nothing like a circus clown, but more like the scary clown Pennywise from Stephen King’s “It”. This poster would make a great addition to any Halloween haunted house or decor.
Shadow Skull
Another Tom Wood fantasy poster available from AllPosters is Shadow Skull. Not your traditional human skull here, but rather that of something that you may not have wanted to encounter when it was alive. Two horn like features stick out from both sides of the skull and the teeth are very large with two very big fangs. The drawing looks very realistic and is done with expert shading in only two colors, an off white and black. Cool and creepy for use as a Halloween decoration, or on the bedroom wall of anyone who loves skull themed items.
Zombie Scraps
Zombies have taken the world by storm thanks to television series like the Walking Dead. For the classic horror fan or those who like a taste of the macabre, Zombie Scraps is the poster for you. A large zombie in tattered jeans and yellow shirt stands with mouth wide open, ready to devour its latest conquest. Part of the zombie’s bones can be seen through its remaining flesh and he is holding the remnants of a human who is now only “scraps” of a partial spinal column and cracked skull which exposes the brain. In the background, other zombies, a cloud of smoke, and rubble can be seen, along with birds of prey flying in the distance. This poster just shouts Halloween, horror, and scary.
Hot Zombie
Tom Wood puts a sexier spin on zombies, while at the same time creating the perfect Halloween backdrop. The fantasy poster Hot Zombie features a well endowed, young, female zombie rising up from the graveyard. She has long, dark hair with creepy, evil eyes and a sneering grin. This poster is done is mostly shades of blue and black, with excellent depiction of light and shadow. A dark, cloudy sky with a touch of light peeking through, and a sky littered with dark, ominous crows give this poster a very Halloween feel. Detailed gravestones scattered through the landscape only enhance the feelings of horror and fear.
Reaper
What image immediately evokes horror and is perfect for Halloween decor? The Grim Reaper! Depicted in great detail in Tom Woods’ Reaper fantasy art poster, this drawing will send chills up and down your spine. A very close up image of the Reaper’s skull, with scythe shimmering in front of him, standing by an iron gate. The drawing is created so that the image of the gate is slightly blurred, with the light shining off the blade of scythe being a focal point. The skull of the Reaper is in crisp, clear focus, down the pattern in the fabric of his cloak. The detailed eye sockets, triangular nasal cavity, and teeth, combined with Woods’ use of light and shadow, would send anyone screaming into the night if displayed in a haunted house or hung on a door for Halloween.
Halloween Decor Ideas
Any of these fantasy posters would be a welcome addition to any Halloween decor. Hung in any haunted house with just the right lighting effect, any of these posters are sure to send shivers down the spines of visitors. They could also be framed and hung in place of your usual framed art while hosting a Halloween party. Posters could also be taped to doors or windows to give guests a fright.
